Training

Training is an essential part of getting a new dog.  You do not want to find out what happens if you are just going to "wing this".  Puppies left to their own resources of trying to figure out how this new 'pack' works will come up with their own rules.  Much like kids, they don't know what's 'wrong' unless you teach them.  And if you are only teaching them what not to do, this will instill a negative association with you.  Positive training, or teaching a dog to do what you want, is the way to go. There are three things puppies need:
                 1.  Love
                 2.  Attention
                 3.  Training
Training is key to having the best possible pet.  You don't have to go out and buy lots of book or even hire a trainer.  You do need to put some time and effort in to finding the methods that will work for you.  We recommend you look at some YouTube videos by Zak George (link to his channel down below).  He is a great resource if you want to do the training on you own and can teach you some things you will be looking for.
There are five different tricks you new 'fur baby' needs to learn right away:
                  1. Their name
                  2. Sit
                  3. Come
                  4. Stay
                  5. Leave it
These 5 simple commands will be a life saver when you go anywhere, or when you have guest over to your house.  Please think seriously about training when bringing your new dog home.  It could be the difference between a beloved pet, and a dog that ends up at the pound.
